SAVAYSA works differently than warfarin
In a clinical study, SAVAYSA was compared with warfarin (a blood thinner that has been used for years to treat DVT or a PE) and was proven effective for treating DVT or PE blood clots. Here's how SAVAYSA is different:
-
-
You don't need to have routine blood tests
-
There are no special food restrictions—you can eat a normal, healthy diet
Clinically relevant bleeding is defined by the study as either a
major bleed or a
clinically relevant bleed that was not considered major.
- Major bleed: Significant bleeding with at least 1 of the following: led to transfusion of 2 or more units of blood; a drop in hemoglobin level of at least 2 g/dL, bleeding that occurred in the brain, abdomen, spine, eye, around the heart, in a joint, in a muscle leading to damage; or fatal bleeding.
- Clinically relevant bleed that was not considered major: Noticeable bleeding that required medical attention, bleeding that caused someone to stop taking the medicine, or bleeding that was associated with noticeable discomfort.
